This policy describes how wxmap.io (“wxmap,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use our website, mobile experiences, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

wxmap.io publishes U.S. weather maps, reports, history, and informational tools that may include third-party market and forecast data for research and comparison. We are not affiliated with the National Weather Service, NOAA, Kalshi, or other data providers named on the site.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in these categories:

• Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address, a hashed password (for email sign-in), and optional profile preferences you save (for example, home location or followed places).
• Sign-in with Google or Apple. If you use OAuth, we receive basic profile identifiers from the provider (such as a subject ID and email when shared) to authenticate you and link your account. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
• Session and security data. We use session cookies and, for some clients, access tokens to keep you signed in and protect the Service.
• Usage and device data. Our servers may log IP address, browser or app user agent, pages requested, timestamps, and error diagnostics. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
• Location you provide. If you set a home area, search a map location, or use location-aware features, we process the coordinates or place names you submit to deliver those features. We do not continuously track your device location in the background unless a future feature explicitly asks for that permission.
• Communications. If you contact us (for example, by email), we keep the content of your message and our reply as needed to support you.

Most weather observations, maps, and market reference data shown on wxmap.io come from public or licensed third-party sources. Those feeds do not include your personal information when we retrieve them on your behalf.

3. How we use information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, maintain, and personalize the Service (including saved preferences and subscriber features);
• Authenticate users and enforce access controls;
• Monitor performance, debug issues, and prevent abuse;
• Respond to support requests; and
• Comply with law and protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable, we process personal data on the bases of contract (providing the Service you request), legitimate interests (security, analytics, improvement), and consent (where required—for example, optional cookies or marketing if we add them later).

5. Sharing and service providers

We may share information with:

• Infrastructure providers that host the site and databases;
• Authentication providers (Google, Apple) when you choose those sign-in options;
• Public data sources only as needed to display weather and related content—not to transmit your personal data to NOAA, Kalshi, or similar sources; and
• Legal and safety recipients when required by law or to protect users and the Service.

We require service providers to handle data only for our instructions and appropriate safeguards.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies and local storage for sign-in sessions and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on wxmap.io today. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may limit account features.

7. Retention

We keep account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backup, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Server logs are retained for a limited operational window unless longer retention is required for security investigations.

8. Security

We use administrative and technical measures appropriate to the Service (including hashed passwords and HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong, unique password and protect your account credentials.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you;
• Object to or restrict certain processing;
• Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and
• Port data you provided to us in a usable format.

You can update many preferences in your account settings. To request access or deletion, contact us using the email below. We may verify your request before acting on it.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International users

wxmap.io is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from other regions, your information may be processed in the U.S. or where our providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be noted on the dashboard or account page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
